As Owakudani Hot Spring was known as "Ojigoku" for the steam billowing from it, Kowakudani Hot Spring had been known as "Kojigoku."
To commemorate a visit by the Meiji Emperor in 1873, it was renamed Kowakudani, and when hot springs were developed there in the Showa Period, springs with varying temperatures and types of water were discovered.
While soaking in these history-rich waters, guests can gaze upon the garden and mountains of Hakone.

The open bath is located on the top floor, a rarity in Hakone. Birdsong can be heard from the lush Mt. Hakone. The open baths where you can fully experience the great nature of Hakone, men and women make alternating use of the bath, which offers two unique views.
The dry sauna is made of Kanagawa cypress. Enjoy the "Totonoi" experience amidst the fragrance of Japanese cypress.

Private baths are available for families, couples and friends to spend private time together.
Children in nappies are not allowed to use the baths in the main baths, but there are no such restrictions in the private baths.
In addition, guests with tattoos of any size may use the private baths without restrictions. Relax in your own private space in the private baths.
One of the seven private baths is universally accessible.
